Manual Osteopathy

Osteopathy is the treatment of injury or restriction of the body by using pressure and movement to reposition and improve the quality of tissue. It is a manual therapy based on the theory that the body is capable of healing itself provided with the proper components of health, that structure and function are interrelate: if a joint is not properly aligned it may cause pain and dysfunction in other area of the body.

The body is considered to be a functional unit so that all of its systems must be operating together in harmony for optimum health. Osteopathy treats the whole person not just pain and symptoms.

Its goal is to restore equilibrium between structure and function. The initial session includes a thorough health history interview and postural analysis during this the therapist will narrow down the areas which need to be addressed during treatment.

Specific tests and techniques are then performed to remove any restrictions and restore the vitality of the affected tissues. Techniques are varied and can include some or all of the following:

  • myofascial counter-strain
  • muscle energy
  • cranial osteopathy
  • osteoarticular (gentle joint mobilization)

Osteopathy treatment is available for all ages, from newborn to 100+. Please call or email any questions you may have regarding osteopathy treatment or visit the following website:
